Well, now.
That was a crazy month. There was a wedding (it was beautiful!), there was some moving (it was hot and long and not fun or beautiful), there were school issues, financial aid issues, parties, settling in, going back to Massachusetts to finish the moving, and finally the first day of school yesterday.
I don't know about you guys, but for me that's a lot to pack into a 30 day period. Which is not to say I didn't do my share of movie watching, video game playing and sleeping, but seriously you have to take advantage of those things when the opportunity arises. Summer vacation is not to be taken for granted, people!
Anyway, I have learned a few things along the way:
1 - Moving is crappy no matter when or how you do it. Nothing will go how you planned it and possessions are seriously overrated. I threw out at least 35 bags of miscellaneous crap that I never used and no one else would ever want.
2 - The Salvation Army is a wonderful place and always happy to take a donation, but they do not take corkboard (I don't blame them).
3 - A bar crawl when you're 28 is way different from a bar crawl when you're 23, mostly in the way you feel the next day. Ouch.
4 - There are a lot of mosquitos in Michigan, and they have missed me. They're making up for it.
5 - Going to college the second time is way harder than the first time. And I'm not talking about the classes.
6 - Having homework in theory is a lot different than having homework in reality, but it's still better than working.
7 - I am 486 years old in comparison to a college freshman, but I still feel like I have more in common with them than real grownups sometimes.
8 - EVERYONE has an opinion about everyone else's life, and when you're doing something a lot of people don't understand or think they have a better way to do, the best thing is just to smile politely and say, 'yes I'm sure you're right. I'm still doing it my way.'
It's good to be back!
