shows I just can't get into

As a person who generally likes to know what's going on in pop culture (and what's going on in general, I hate to miss stuff), there are some very popular things (ok, TV shows) that I am not into at all.  I don't know if this means I'm getting old or if I'm just not very cool (no wait, I already know I'm not very cool).  Anyway, reading the online silly news (tvguide-, ew-, people- .com) these are the ones that come to mind:

The Bachelor - I was cracking up reading this morning how people are so mad at that guy because apparently he picked one girl, but then changed his mind and dumped her for the other one on national TV.  What I can't understand is how anyone spent three hours watching that crap last night in the first place.  Of course that guy is a douche - he went on tv not once, but twice to find a mom for his kid.  That's not romantic, it's lazy and creepy.

American Idol - I never watch during the first rounds, I don't think it's entertaining to watch people who are really bad and Simon Cowell makes me want to bleed from the eyes.  I have been known to tune in on the rounds once they get to a top 10, but I only watch the singing and then either mute or change the channel because I hate all the judges.

Lost - I've never seen a single minute of this show, and it's kind of a point of pride for me.  Yea yea it's really good blah blah blah.  Maybe someday I'll Netflix the DVDs, but right now it just kind of annoys me that there is no escape from the coverage of it.  Seriously, go to ew.com on a Wednesday or Thursday and good luck finding stuff not about this show.

Hell's Kitchen - or whatever's the one with Gordon Ramsay.  I do not like that guy.  Why would you sign up to go on a show where someone is going to repeatedly berate you and try to make you feel like a loser (this goes for most reality tv shows, actually)?

Wife Swap - you have to be kidding me with this show.  It's painful.  I have been forced to sit through it a couple of times at Floyd's Cove, and I really can't say anything good about it.  It makes me want to get up and leave.  If I ever get married and my husband suggests we go on this show, I think it would be grounds for an immediate divorce.

24 -  never seen it.  Don't really want to.

CSI - ditto.

So there you have it.  I am not cool, and I do not watch these shows.  Which should in no way lead you to believe I'm doing anything more valuable with my time, because I can pretty much guarantee you that I'm not.  This season I have also quit watching Heroes, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters and Ugly Betty.

Trimmin' down the ol' TV watching.  Let's not talk about how I started watching Fringe, Leverage, Army Wives or Mad Men, though, ok?  They're not on right now anyway.  They don't count.

Ok, I am sorry that you quit watching Desperate Housewives, it's been ok, Really sorry that you quit watching Heroes, it has gotten A LOT better, and sad that you quit watching Brothers and Sisters, it was really, really good on Sunday night. But happy for Fringe. I don't usually like sci-fi, but I do enjoy the crazy dad!
